Sandy Chin uses her passion for reading to head new summer reading program for kids

Sandy Chin behind her exceptional mind for business and caring nature was able to put forth the effort to help out a school in NYC by choosing to lead a brand new summer reading program. The school is named PS11, which has low-income students attending and Chin has chosen to put forth a program to help students read in the summer while schools are closed. The summertime can be a fun time to relax although many students fall behind in their studies due to it and can not find the resources to go to a library or acquire books. This is where Sandy Chin comes in as she held a drive, donating any books that they could to give to students to read over the summer for free. The response was overwhelmingly positive as they were able to get an abundance of books to give to the students, more than 3,000 to be exact, according to the article from Patch.com.

Chin understands the importance of reading as young kids are developing the skills to read and learn. She also loved to read at a young age while in school and was able to hand out books to each grade in the school. They plan on doing this more often and they found it imperative that they gave students the right level books to read so that it was not too difficult for them to read. Chin and other volunteers are hoping that other schools will follow in their footsteps with this successful program. The students at the school were very happy with acquiring their own books that they wanted as one student according to the article took out 12 books to read over the summer and Sandy Chin believes that the program has helped out many families as the PTO even plans on raising money for school supplies equally. Sandy Chin is a mother herself and understands the importance of children reading and has even named her children after characters in books in fact.

Sandy Chin aside from her volunteering, heads her very own company called Tidal Bore Capital and is grateful for the opportunities she was given and the knowledge she has. She has vast experience in the business sector as a portfolio manager and analyst for various companies.
