IMPORTANCE OF HAVING COMPARATIVE LAW ACCORDING TO SUJIT CHOUDHRY

 

Sujit Choudhry is one of the people who have made great contributions towards comparative law. He has travelled far and wide to make sure that the constitution used is fit for the people. He has changed the old traditional use of constitution and adopted a new one which fights for the rights of everyone. International Law in every given country is different in nature because of the ideologies they have. As such, comparative law seeks to find a middle ground in spite of all the differences. It has played a big role in enabling countries to adopt the democratic politics. Moreover, the law has brought sanity back to most of the countries which were ruled by people who only thought of their selfish interest. According to constitutionaltransitions.org,  comprehensive study of comparative law has enabled Sujit to not only understand it better but also use it to assist people at various levels. For example, he was part of the Governing Toronto Advisory Panel, a group that spearheaded many reforms in the Toronto municipal government. He has also published many books, articles and papers about comparative law. His books are used by students all over the world and practitioners of comparative law. He is the founder of Center for Constitutional Transitions; a center that seeks to build comparative constitutional law.

 

 

Sujit Choudhry is a holder of three law degrees from Harvard, Oxford and Toronto. He has worked as a law expert in various countries such as Libya, Egypt and Jordan. Through his career he has been recognized by many organizations through various awards. He was among the four Canadians rewarded with the award of the Trudeau Fellowship.  Sujit Choudhry is currently a professor of comparative law at Berkeley Law School where he not only teaches but also mentors students to be advocates of comparative law. He serves on the board of Legal Aid Ontario. He also serves in the United Nations Mediation Roaster and is a consultant to the World Bank. He is very compassionate of the work he does and feels proud of his achievements and the people he has helped so far.
